PM: Now There is Peace and We Must Work Together to Prevent It from Disappearing

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has posted a picture of himself taken in the 1990s, a time when Cambodia was not yet fully at peace. The Prime Minister said the expression on his face looks like he is thinking about wanting peace and the opportunity to build the country, while reminding the people not to let this misfortune happen again.

Prime Minister Hun Sen made a post on his social media account, including a picture of him from when he was in his 40s, wearing a blue shirt with a pen in his pocket and big sunglasses. At that time, he still had black hair, and he looks like he is deep in thought with a slight frown on his face.

Accompanying the picture, he wrote, "I have never seen this photo before, but today I saw it on social media. According to my observation, the glasses were worn between 1994 and early 1999, which was the implementation stage of win-win politics. At that time, [my life was] sleeping, walking, standing, sitting and thinking about wanting peace so that there is an opportunity to build a country. My face is thinking forward to something that no one can guess right."

He continued that now that there is peace, the younger generation should not have to face unfortunate things like Prime Minister Hun Sen and previous generations living through the war experienced, while trying to find peace.

The Prime Minister concluded his post by writing, "Do not wait for war to shout for peace, when it is too late to save like Ukraine."

For more than 23 years, Cambodia has achieved peace and national reconciliation with full national unity and one government that has benefited from the win-win policy of Prime Minister Hun Sen, since 1998. Achieving complete peace has given the Royal Government enough opportunities to develop the country up until this day.

The Prime Minister often states that he would not allow Cambodia to fall into a state of war like before, declaring that at any cost, peace must be maintained.
